    Matt,

WHAT AN AMAZING COLLECTION OF SHOTS!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR THESE PHOTOS.

When you mentioned your trip to Charlotte, I had no idea if you did that because you had an assignment, or if you did so for your own pleasure, but I knew you would post some great images, regardless, and I am rewarded with the best shots of the Queen City I’ve seen lately. The 1st and 5th photos, in particular, show an amazing angle, which thanks the telephoto makes everything appear a lot closer 🙂 Nevertheless, these two photos, alone, must have raised the standards for Charlotte skyline shots to a very high level. The Ashton Apartments offer amazing views and I envy those who live there. South End has come a long way and will continue to be a gold mine for creating new urbanity – as well as redeveloping older buildings when possible. Lynx definitely helps.

As for Charlotte, no comments on my part will be enough to demonstrate the progress the city has made in the last 15 years, and not just in the skyline department, where it really excels and sets itself apart. Charlotte’s skyline is truly a fine one, and what Uptown lacks in old/historic buildings, it more than makes up with its great collection of beautiful contemporary skyscrapers. Can’t praise Charlotte’s leaders enough for their vision and hard work.

BTW, aren’t those “sun rays burst from clouds” shots old ones? Do I see a few photos I’ve seen before? You are not cheating, are you? 😆

Those are nice shots from Ashton. This has become a rather popular angle. Believe it or not, it’s 1.6 miles from Ashton to Hearst Tower. From the looks of the photos, Hearst does not look like a building that is that far away.

  3. Ernest Says:

Yeah, that is what I meant. I love the use of telephoto in cases like this because it eliminates much of the depth and places the buildings even closer. From the Ashton, the effect is simply amazing!!! A few midrises between The Ashton and Uptown would make this angle even more amazing!!! Hopefully, Trump will materialize his plans for Charlotte 🙂 That 3-tower project would simply stand out, but the vision that stole my heart was One Charlotte, and I hope that the developers did not completely abandon their plans. Looking from The Ashton, these two projects would add significantly to an already fantastic angle!!!

The view from The Arlington is also amazing, but it doesn’t match the one from The Ashton, I must admit, although the smaller distance brings the skyscrapers closer to you. I hope that Matt can find someone who can offer him access to The Arlington next time he visits. In addition, I would love to see the view from the Royal Condos.
